I am not exactly sure if my windscreen can be repaired. Specifically, what am I looking for as a candidate for repair?
If the chip on your windscreen is smaller than a 50c coin then there’s a very good chance it can be repaired. If you have a crack on your windscreen then it’s best to measure it and take note of where it is before giving us a call.
How clear with my chip or pit be after repair?
The damaged area will be significantly clear after the repair. When cured, the resin that is injected into the pit closely resembles the clarity of glass. It should be noted, the chip does not “disappear,” but rather “hides.” You will see something more like a shadow of where the break was, with an approximate expected clarity of 75% – 95% from the original damage, depending on how quickly you get it repaired. The main objective in having an area repaired is to prevent it from spreading further and cracking.
My car has failed a WoF due to a chip on my windscreen. What should I do?
Give us a call and we can send a mobile repairer to your home or place of work to repair your windscreen to NZ Standards. We can then issue you with a CoF that can be presented on your return to the workshop to enable you to receive your warrant.
I have taken a stone chip just above my steering wheel, in my line of vision. Can this area still be repaired?
Yes, there is a very good chance that we can repair the break, but it depends on the size of the damage and also how quickly you get it repaired. The longer you leave it, the more chance there is that the break will grow and/or fill up with road grime – which can’t be removed.
I have heard that cracks can be repaired. I have a 10 cm crack in my windscreen, and my windscreen was just replaced eight weeks ago! Can you fix it for me?
There is a very good chance that your windscreen can be repaired. You need to act quickly, before the crack grows too large. Take an accurate measurement of the break, and where it is located on the windscreen, and then give us a call.
Can you do the work at my home or office?
Yes, of course. All vehicles can be completed on a mobile basis. We offer a FREE mobile service throughout the Auckland region.
Can your technician come to my home or office when it's raining? Is weather a factor in my repair?
Weather is a factor in the repair of a windscreen. The ideal repair environment is dry weather. But if you have undercover parking, and it’s raining, we will be able to repair your windscreen.
Does Quality Windscreen Repair work with my insurance company or agent?
Yes! We can work with any insurance company. All you need to do is give us a call first, and we can take care of all the paper work for you, including the phone call to your insurance company.
Will you waive my insurance excess?
Many insurance companies waive excesses for windscreen repairs. We can inform you if you have this coverage.
If my repair spreads after having it repaired by Quality Windscreen Repair, what will you do to correct the problem?
We will credit the cost of the repair to the purchase of a new windscreen.
